The Preservation of Cultural Heritage in European Countries

On 29 September 2009, a presentation sourcebook of the international scientific conference «The Preservation of Cultural Heritage in European Countries» will take place in the Small hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. It is held by the Centre of Ethnology of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Moldova.

On 25-26 September 2008 on the threshold of 650-year anniversary celebration of the Republic of Moldova, the international scientific conference «Preservation of Cultural Heritage in European Countries» took place in Chisinau.

The conference united the efforts of 120 investigators from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia. The conference organizers are convinced that only joint efforts of specialists of different scientific regions with the cooperation of civil society, legislative and executive authorities will succeed in the most successful preservation and increase in cultural legacy as a phenomenon and evidence of the development progress on one hand being an essential part of a nation and on the other hand having no borders.

As a result of the conference, the forum organizers have developed a joint resolution, that will be addressed to the head of the Republic of Moldova, the Central European Initiative, UNESCO. The conference organizers are convinced that such meetings to a greater extent promote the discussion of topical questions of preservation of cultural heritage as a pan-European problem that needs a constant monitoring.

The collection has been published owing to the financial support of the Central European Initiative.

All the scholars working in the area of humanities and the preservation of the cultural heritage are invited to the conference.
