A meeting of the Center of Ethnology, in memoriam of Rita Kleiman

At October the 1st at 13.30 in the conference hall of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (Stefan cel Mare, 1, 408) will take place a meeting of the Center of Ethnology, Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Academy of sciences of Moldova in memoriam doctor habilitat of philology professor Rita Kleiman (September, 25th 1947 - November 27th 2008 ).

R. Kleiman is an outstanding scientist, scholar and cultural scientist, professor and social activist. Author of several hundreds of scientific articles. The versatile scientist, she researched the problems connected with the medieval literacy and Jewish ethnology, the history of Russian and world literature, questions of literary and cultural studies, in fact recovered from oblivion the names of Saint Paisi Velichkovsky and outstanding figure of Russian Silver Age, philosopher and literary critic Mikhail Gherşenzon. For many years she studied the works of F. Dostoevsky. Author of “The Transverse motifs of Dostoevsky's work in historical and cultural perspective" (1985), "Dostoevsky: constants of the poetics" (2001), play’s "Myshkin and Moses, or the Arrival of a Train" (2007). Compiled a collection of selected works by Gershenzon "Sketches of the past" (Chisinau, 2003).

Member of the International Dostoevsky Society (IDS), which brings together a few dozen scholars of Dostoevsky's work from around the world. Member of the “MAPRYAL” (International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature), the “Sefer” (International Association of researchers and teachers of Jewish Studies in universities) and others; participant of numerous international scientific conferences, including in the United States, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Russia and so on.
