Tribuna.md: Iurie Rosca shifts to economic nationalism. These are his suggested ways to redress the economy!

The inclusion of the Moldovan economy into the European one could be compared with a match between two boxers from different weight categories, believes the former leader of the Christian Democrat People’s Party (PPCD) and former Speaker and Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Rosca.

At a public lecture at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova he said that the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, when Moldova is expected to initial the Association Agreement with the EU, including the Free Trade Agreement, might have an adverse impact on Moldova, TRIBUNA reports.

Iurie Rosca, a convinced European in the past, claims that now Moldova has to choose the third way – economic independence. He recommended that its economy should expand both on the European Union and the Eurasian markets.

He advocated for the economic nationalism, for „embracing a different kind of patriotism – the economic one”.

„We have to shift from a naive nationalism that we have felt for two decades to a pragmatic one, governed by the economic independence principle. This is why we have to conceptualize our national idea”, Rosca stressed.
